I began teaching  at Headland Elementary in 1979.   In 1989, I began teaching at Pike County Elementary School.  In 1993, I began teaching at Banks.

Hello and welcome to Mrs. Karen S. Smith's 3rd grade!  I am originally from Abbeville, Alabama.  I attended Troy University and received a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education and a Master Degree in Elementary Education and Reading.  I am married to Randall Smith, a former Banks student. We have two daughters, Anna and Allison. Anna is married to Curtis, and they have my adorable 4 grandchildren, Adelyn, William, Lydia, and Clara. Allison graduated from University of Alabama and is teaching at Chapel Hill Baptist Church Child Development Program in Northport. I taught in Henry County for 10 years and this will be my 39th year in teaching.  I enjoy reading, watching TV, playing with my grandchildren, meeting authors, participating in Bible study groups, and going to concerts.
